Fox Sports’ Bill Simmons predicts Fox Sports 1 will win the second-biggest cable network and the No. 2 sports network in terms of viewership this season.
“This is going to end up being a very, very, special year for Fox Sports.
I’m really excited about that,” Simmons said on Fox Sports Monday.”
If I were to bet on it, I would say I’m giving them about a 5-point edge over CBS and ESPN,” Simmons continued.
“And I’d say the biggest story right now, which is a pretty significant story, is the fact that Fox Sports has gone from a place where they were barely breaking into the cable news business to they are in the top four of all cable networks.”
So that’s a tremendous story for Fox, and that’s something that I think is going the right way.
“Simmons added that Fox’s network of affiliates in the United States is the second most in the country behind ESPN.
Fox Sports 1 is currently averaging a 3.8 rating among adults 18-49 and 3.4 million total viewers per game, the most in cable.
The network’s lead over CBS is up 6% and ESPN is up 2% compared to last season.
Fox News Channel is also in the lead with a 3% lead among adults and 6 million total subscribers.
The top 10 cable networks in terms
